The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

I am so beyond happy to share with you my experience at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, here at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Yesterday was the Grand Opening, and even though I did not go for the whole day, I was able to experience it well for the first time.

The day started off with us going into Universal and getting a timed ticket in order to get into the land.

You walk into Hogsmeade, where you see the Hogwarts Express to your right and the hustle and bustle of the day. As you continue walking, it becomes Hogwarts. The castle looked exactly how I had pictured it in my mind and in the movies. It was perfect.

There are many shops where I was able to check out exclusive Harry Potter paraphernalia and I was able to experience the taste of BUTTERBEER™, which tasted exactly like I thought it would, since I was 7 years old reading the books for the first time.

Flight of the Hippogriff™, was the only ride I was able to experience due to the long lines, and the fact that I will be coming back soon because I now have an season pass to Universal Studios.

Here are some photos you might enjoy, I will keep updating later when I return to this magical world.

Bye Felicia !

So, yesterday I decided to finally delete photos off my Instagram. If you follow me, you know I have a large amount of photos up. I love Instagram. I love putting up photos of what I’m doing, where I’m going and important things in my life that are happening. As a result, I have put up 1665 photos in the last almost four years that I’ve had an Instagram. That’s roughly a photo a day.
As you may know, I’ve recently had some big changes in my life. I decided to finally delete photos. I’ve NEVER. EVER. EVER. deleted photos off any type of social media, but it was time. It’s time to grow up and put the people who aren’t in my life anymore away. There were a lot of great memories that I deleted, but it was necessary.

Capstone: Blogging Gratification Part Three by Elia Pacheco

Hello again!

My name is Elia Pacheco and my specific Capstone research paper is specifically on blogs, it’s called: BLOGGING GRATIFICATION: UNDERSTANDING HOW READERS AND BLOGGERS PERCEIVE BLOGS.

On my second blog post I talked about my literature review, and how I would use the Uses and Gratification Theory and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory in order to facilitate my research questions and find out what I needed in order to prove that people do get gratification from reading blogs. Well, I DID IT!!! But, before I go into that, I will explain the way I was able to prove my research question and hypotheses.

I was able to recruit a total of 201 participants for my study. I was able to recruit my participants via the internet. Participants answered a thirteen question survey, which not only analyzed their demographics (Sex, Age, Country of residence, etc.), but answered…

Capstone: Blogging Gratification Part Two by Elia Pacheco

Hello again!

My name is Elia Pacheco and my specific Capstone research paper is specifically on blogs, it’s called: BLOGGING GRATIFICATION: UNDERSTANDING HOW READERS AND BLOGGERS PERCEIVE BLOGS.

It has been quite difficult to find information on blogging, which, in one part, is a good thing because this means that my Capstone paper will actually be relevant in the real world. On the other hand, it makes my topic that much more difficult. I have recently finished my methodology section, in which I have decided to use a survey in order to answer my research question and my five follow up hypothesis. These are:
Research Question: Do people get gratification from reading other people’s blogs?

  • Hypothesis 1a: People read blogs for entertainment. [pastime]
  • Hypothesis 1b: People read blogs for escapism.
  • Hypothesis 1c: People read blogs so they do not feel alone anymore [affection]
  • Hypothesis 1d: People read blogs for their…

New Blog Post on my Capstone Class’ Blog!

Our Capstone Blog Our Capstone Blog

My name is Elia Pacheco and I am currently taking COMM 498 which is our Capstone class for Communication Studies majors here at Cal State LA. Basically, Capstone is what other people may think of as a Senior Thesis class. This means that we use all of the theories, methods and knowledge that we have gained from being in college, more specifically, in our major to research and analyze a topic which interests us. Each Capstone class has a different theme, and ours is Mass Communication.

My specific Capstone research paper will be specifically on blogs! The reason I chose this topic is because I have a big interest for blogs. I manage two different ones. One of them is my own personal blog, where I vent about things going on in my life, review certain products and give advice on places to visit…
